can you legally download it off from the torrent sites like torrentspy.com? Like if you broke the discs or you wanted a localized copy on the hdd instead of ripping all 12 discs?

Theoretically speaking, after you convert them to MP3 files, you can place them on your hard drive and they could accidently be downloaded by other users.

I'm no lawyer, but from what I understand about copyright laws once you purchase a product in one format you have the legal right to own it in any format you choose. I think that downloading is legal if you already own the product in a different format. Like I said, I'm no expert on the subject, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt.
