For those of you in private practice.

How fast is your Internet and how much are you paying for it ? What EMR are you running with that?

I ask because I am setting up my office and the IT consultant recommends 10MB speed at $700 a month. Seems like overkill to me. It certainly reduces the providers since the local cable company is offering bits not bytes.

Outrageous. That said, the more remote the area the higher the cost. I pay double for service in my office in the sticks but it is only $130. I paid $300/mo for a T1 line in 2001 because couldn't get DSL or cable

Depends how much porn you'll be downloading at work.

I pay $100 for cable and Internet. $340 for four ATT lines. I pay more for landlines to avoid headaches when the power is out...maybe I should change to the $240 plan above...

I believe mine are landlines, we don't use VOIP. I have UPS units on phone controller and modem to avoid interruption with power glitches. With that said, we lost phones and internet for 30 minutes this week. I had to scramble to tether all computers to my cell phone but having the phones out truly sucks.
