Never been to TX but want to go to school there is it a complete waste of money to apply to them???

You have competitive numbers, especially the GPA. A MCAT of 30 was always the magic number we were told, but if you apply EARLY (and I mean ASAP after the application opens) then you have a shot with the 29. What is your Science GPA?? Texas schools will look at that number also.

Address your reasons for wanting to come to Texas in your PS. It might just make the difference. Have good EC's and good LORs. TCOM would like to see the DO letter.

The biggest factor against you is the fact that by state law, the med school class must be 90% Texas residents. This, sadly, is out of your control, but applying thru TMDSAS is not too terrribly expensive and some Texas school do not have secondaries so that will also help save you some $$$. If you really want to come here, then by all means give it a shot!!

A fall back plan is, of course, move to Texas, work at least a year, qualify as a Texas resident and then give it a try. :luck:
