Hi,
Potentially interested in Surgery, currently on Surgical clerkship and loving it.
I found out that I scored a "D" on my Medicine clerkship, and this gets reported as a numerical score on my transcript (79 wash grade for the Medicine rotation.)
I don't have any major surgery extracurricular things like research or publications, and my Step 1 is a 247. The rest of my clerkship grades are in the 80's.
Is a 79 in the Medicine rotation going to severely harm my chances of matching into surgery? I understand that the Surgery clerkship itself is way more important, but Medicine seems to be a big one in a lot of specialties.
Would appreciate input from anyone who feels they can comment meaningfully on this.
Thanks,
-BL
