Does anyone have experience in terms of how much employers (hospitals/physician organizations) pay for malpractice insurance for their employees, eg hospitalists? I have heard that it is on a per-physician basis irregardless of how much an employee works (thus penalizing a hospital for taking on a half-time physician). Is it the same for smaller and larger institutions? And how does it work for locums, is it the locums agency or the individual hospitals that pay, and in that case would it be on a per hour or short-term assignment basis? Thanks!
