Mayo SURF help with application?

I'm currently enrolled in the Mayo SURF program. This is a bit of a long shot, but I was wondering if anyone knew whether Mayo favors SURF students in their MD/ PhD program? Or, is the high rate of matriculation to MMS the result of SURF students being the kind of students who would be accepted to the SURF program in the first place.

Also, will the SURF program look good to other schools besides Mayo?
