So I received my retake scores today and I improved from a 24 (PS: 8,VR: 7, BS:9) to a 29 (PS: 11,VR: 9, BS: 9). I'm also deciding to hold off and apply next cycle as soon as the app opens in order to improve my chances. I am URM (Mexican-American); will that help me out? Also, by applying next year, ill be able to improve my gpa, because it dropped during 3rd year:

Freshman: 3.85
Soph: 3.78
Junior: 3.0
Senior: should be at least a 3.75*

In addition I'll be adding to my work/extracurriculars:
-Admissions Clerk at hometown hospital (Hispanic community): 1.5 years 35hr/wk
-Pharmacy Tech at hometown hospital: 0.5 years 36hr/wk
-high school and middle school band percussion consultant: +500hrs
-Local youth chamber group (community volunteering): 1 yr
-ER & Cardiology Volunteer: ~100 hours
-After school elementary school tutor/activities leader: 0.5 years, 30hrs/wk
-Billing Clerk at Nuerosurgeons office: 0.5 years, 30hrs/wk
-Shadowed hometown Family Physician: ~60 hrs
-Shadowed Neurosurgeon in office (Reading MRI's, speaking to patients, etc): ~20 hrs
-Premed AMSA group member: 1 year
**will be participating in research this senior year( EMRAP or through school)
**Just got hired as an ER registration clerk (duration should be: 1.5 years with gap year)

So with all that, do I have a chance at MD schools? What about CA schools? Thank you!

You're fine at many MD schools even if not a URM. You might even have some luck with the CA schools, especially IF you're from CA. I'd like to see what my learned colleague gyngyn has to add too.

Yes, I'm actually from CA, so staying here would be really great. I don't have a problem going oos either, so it's good to know that you think I have a good chance at MD schools.
