I think the explanation about acceleration during constant velocity was not very clear with the cruise control of a car. Let me share how I tackle the concept with you guys.

To think V,t, and a in a much more comprehensive way, you can graph it out. V on the X-axis, t on the Y-axis. a will be the slope, and distance is the area below the curve.
If you have the graph down, you would not need to memorize any equations.
