Out of curiosity, how much does MCAT factor in when being considered for an MSTP program? And is it possible for someone to be more competitive for an MSTP over an MD program?

Thanks!!

On the whole, MSTPs are more competitive. However, they can be more forgiving in one area if you are outstanding in another area. For example if you have a competitive but not outstanding GPA, being highly productive in research can compensate for that. Generally MSTP applicants have less of the outside activities that MD applicants must have such as extensive volunteering and clinical shadowing. In regards to MCAT, there is really no good reason not to do reasonably well (35+). Do not sit for the exam until you are hitting the score you desire on your practice exams.
