Military-In-Training (MIT) Status

I recently learned from the Military-In-Training (MIT) status from another IRR doc that is currently completing his residency while completing his 4 years in the IRR...essentially he told me this status prevents one from being called back to AD during IRR and also provides a 300/month stipend...is there some sort of catch...do you get more AD payback requirements??
