MSPE: Is it important for Ophtho?

MSPEs are going out soon and I was wondering how heavily programs view these for ophthalmology. I've heard that for other specialties, like most of the ERAS ones, use this letter as one of the most important pieces of the app, but I feel as though it's not talked about very much in Ophtho world. Thoughts?

I recently received an email from a program saying that it has downloaded my application but will not decide upon interview offers until mspe is received. Makes me think this one particular program emphasizes mspe more than others.
