    HI,

Can anyone tell me the average USMLE Step 1 score for those that matched this year and those that did not? Some posters put up this information on the Optho board, so I know that you should have access to it if you went through the SF match.

Can anyone tell me what it took to get a spot in a top NYC program?

Also, does anyone know how many spots went unfilled and will be offered in the next match?

    thanks.

The average USMLE score of those matched was 220 while those that did not match averaged 202.

As for the top program in NYC, Columbia is probably considered number one by reputation. However, it might not be a top program for you. For example, you might not like the fact that as a PGY-2 you are on in-house call q4 the entire year except for one month of ambulatory specialty clinic. Or you might not like that Columbia emphasizes Neuro ICU. You need to find the program that fits you.
