While I still have pleanty of time to decide, after taking that survery on one of the Virginia medical school websites which lists different residencies, I find that neurosurgery is always my #1. I worked for about a year on a neuro ICU, so I also know a little about the field.
I am wondering how challenging it is to get into a neurosurgery residency. I know many surgery residencies have a hard time filling their slots. Is this similair for neurosurgery. I am at about the middle of my class.
Also, I don't mind the 7 years post-med school. My other considerations are IM sub-specialties. But I don't want to do a residency that is 110 hours a week. Do any of you know how many hours/week one might anticipate in one of these programs?
Does anyone know of any good websites which might further discuss these issues?
Thanks
David
