Since it was discussed, let it be said. EM exists all over Europe. It's just their A&E classically involved using anesthesia, not EM as a defined specialty. They specifically note that A&E needed critical care doctors. They use doctors for retrieval at rates much, much higher than we do in the US. Their HEMS almost always has a doc, and they often have ground based docs as well. Things we don't do here.
They aren't using rejects and interns. I promise you that.
That's changing in many places, though, and EM is becoming a specialty. FFS two of the last 3 SMACC conferences were in Europe.

That being said, can we keep the discussion on point? I'm not above locking the thread. If you want to talk about EM in other countries, make a new thread.
