Hello all,

I just got my MCAT scores, and they're pretty terrible.
I got a 28, with PS10/V8/BS10

Here are my other stats,
UG at University of Toronto St. George - Physiology Specialist

1st year: OMSAS-3.09, AMCAS-3.09
2nd year: OMSAS-3.63, AMCAS-3.67
3rd year: OMSAS-3.83, AMCAS-3.87
Top two years: OMSAS-3.73, AMCAS-3.77
Total (including summers): OMSAS-3.55, AMCAS-3.58
Total (excluding summers): OMSAS-3.49, AMCAS-3.52

ECs: 3 research projects (one manuscript in progress), 5 conferences, physician shadowing, 2 awards, 4 volunteer positions, president/founder of an undergrad club.

I am thinking of applying mostly to the US. Do I have ANY chance in Canada? Where do you think I should apply (in both Canada and the US) ... I understand my chances are very very low, you don't need to reinforce that, I'm just looking for any hope. Also, please reply quickly, because I have my next MCAT on Aug 7th. If I write that, my score may not necessarily improve and I will be delayed for a month (lower chances for the US). So should I write my next MCAT? and which US and Canadian schools do I have ANY chance in?

Unfortunately, I haven't written many at all. Which is actually the real reason why I messed up (I was really nervous because it was all new to me, so it took me time to get used to it). Either way, I got like (PS10/VR9/BS12) on AAMC3, and on AAMC8 I only did PS, because that is the only part that scares me and I got 12.

Thing is, I got lucky on the MCAT I wrote because my BS has one passage of orgo (I know absolutely no reactions), and because I thought VR was a little easier than usual. So, chances of getting lucky again on a new MCAT are low. So on my new MCAT, if I got lucky again, I supposed the MAX I can get is 11/9/12.

Thank you for your reply. But do you think I have a chance for the US? I know Canadian Med Schools are tougher to get into, especially with my GPA.

I strongly suggest not taking the MCAT again if you have only had one full practice test.

I am afraid I am not qualified to talk about foreign applicants into US MD schools. I know a 3.58 isn't incredibly great, but you'd have a chance at some schools soley based on GPA. A 28 is the same situation IMO. But this is all speculation because I don't know anything about foreign applicants

You are not a strong applicant for the 74 US MD schools that accept applications from internationals. US DO schools have started considering internationals. If you can identify which ones will consider you, this may be worth the effort.
