I had a 4th year with me a few months ago who was a partner in a new health tech start up in Silicon Valley. Something to do with crypto. I convinced him to take Step 3 as his last move before he leaves medicine for good. Juuuust in case...
 
Yeah, in general I tell them to do a year in something so they can get a medical license. The steps are a waste if you don't get licensed, and that needs at least a year of residency.
