Bumping this useful thread for those that want to start working on them now to be able to turn in on day one.

That must have taken some time to put together. Much thanks! :)

Wow just what I needed to get a start ahead! Thanks!

Great!

Time to get these prompts cracking. Perhaps, I will start by the beginning of next week. Hopefully, by the first week of July, I will have pre-written all of my secondary essays.

Brakk, nice job on the thread, appreciate it!

Nice job! Why can't all these secondaries be like Nova's secondary... Lol.

I forsee finger cramps in my future.

I forsee finger cramps in my future.

Totally.

I have counted 20 prompts I need to to respond to for the 12 schools I'm applying to even though 4 of these schools have no prompts in their secondaries. If each prompt takes me 2 hours to work on, that's 40 hours. Add another 10 hour to take care of other biographical questions. I'm looking at 50 hours of pain.

How many essay will you need to write?

How often do the schools tend to change the prompts from year to year? Jw if its worth going ahead and starting on it based on previous years or if they tend to change each year?

I submitted to 25-26 schools total DO/MD, so hopefully all of them :)

Sweet.
Just about to start my secondaries.

Any ideas when do the 1st wave of secondaries come in?

Any ideas when do the 1st wave of secondaries come in?

I was wondering the same..... anxious to know when we will start receiving them

I am just applying this year, so I dont know for sure, but most schools list on the COM book that the earliest secondaries are allowed to come in on July 1st, so I am guessing it'll be a week or so.

Saying it's only a week away makes me soooo nervous. I haven't even started, I better get on that soon.....

Well, it looks like I have a lot of work ahead of me. 9 DO schools, 18 MD schools. Let's go

will we have character limit on secondaries? I saved my ammo for the secondaries and have many things to say.

Well that was just throwing something out there. It's already Thursday and nothing, so I'd be surprised if any are sent out before July really.

Thought they sending it on July 1st.
Wouldn't be surprised if secondaries come as soon as couple days later though, especially for these schools that doesn't screen.

Some schools automatically send the secondaries out the moment they get the primary. It could be the day of. Who knows, maybe even AACOMAS will take longer to update than the schools take to send you their secondaries.

I received an email from Campbell this AM that they have my initial application and it will be reviewed over the next 2 weeks with a secondary sent out after that time. I must admit that simple email had me jumping! Getting closer!

I received Campbells email too! just strange that on AACOMAS it doesn't show a release date yet

Dang, I envy you campbell applicants. I haven't heard anything! I almost want to add Cambell just to get SOMETHING lol

Anybody check their applications today? Mine says "released 6/21". Looks like the schools are getting the Apps today

Same thing here, and I got an e-mail from one school that just said they got my application and they'll get to it within 2 weeks.

Also, I noticed that some of the secondaries are basically a CV, like NYIT-COM. I already posted most of that stuff in my ACOMAS, what is the purpose in rewriting it?

Did you take the mcat yet? I'm still trying to see if there are any schools that send secondaries without mcats.

Was looking at the WesterU thread from last yr.

Isnt the secondary 4 prompts?
Prompt 1: While shadowing a physician, what did the experience do to solidify your desire/ambition to become an osteopathic physician?

Prompt 2: What criteria did you use to select a medical school and why does WesternU/COMP meet your high level of expectation?

Prompt 3: Describe your participation in community service activities in a medically underserved or economically disadvantaged community.

Prompt 4: Explain why the opportunity to study and participate in clinical experiences in the Pacific Northwest appeals to you.

So I figured this MAY be helpful for deciding which secondaries to prewrite first. I began to compile a list of when each school released their secondaries last year based on their respective 2012-2013 threads. For the record, this doesn't necessarily mean they will be released the same day this year, but if their processes are similar year to year, who knows:

ATSU-SOMA: 6/26/12
CCOM: 6/26/12
AZCOM: 6/26/12
DMU-COM: 7/5/12
VCOM: 7/6/12
LECOM-B: 7/2/12
NSUCOM: 6/27/12
PCOM: 7/31/12
RVUCOM: 7/3/12
TUCOM-CA: 7/9/12
TUCOM-NV: 7/17/12
TouroCOM-NY: 8/30/12
UNECOM: 7/10/12
WesternU-COMP: 7/3/12

Other ones were kind of hard to point out when they were released due to slight in-state preferences.

Yes last year. Best thing is to just call the schools your interested in and ask. Do you take it soon?

+1!!!

I am still excited!!! All these years of work are finally meeting at an end/start point. Funny thing is my life is INSANE compared to what it was three years ago but I am much more focused and balanced. Cannot wait to start the next part of this amazing life journey! And to get those secondaries rolling out hehehe.

Did you take the mcat yet? I'm still trying to see if there are any schools that send secondaries without mcats.

I got the CCOM secondary this morning and my MCAT still hasn't been uploaded to AACOMAS because of some technical glitch they're apparently having, so there's at least one out there.
