Doesn't stop initial prescriptions.

And, Chronic pain and opioid prescriptions are not part of the law.


The prescribers that should be most affected by this change are orthos and surgeons.

Patients just call in for a refill after a week.

Providers write 1 week scripts until they have given out 8 of them, then they call the patient chronic and write the 1 month scripts.

Most still don't have the "guts" to tell the patient "you're done with opioids, the acute pain is over"...
