Orthoptist -> Optometrist?

Many pre-medical students become EMTs during their undergrad years/before they go into medical school. In the case of optometry, or even medicine, would becoming an Orthoptist first be advantageous?

If you are very interested in vision therapy yes. Otherwise perhaps COT (certified ophthalmic technician) would be better.
