So in the OTCAS under letters of rec, I'm putting in the people's names/emails and it says personal message - is that a personal message to my recommenders or a personal message to OTCAS about who they are? Thanks in advance!

The personal message is for your recommenders.
Last year I thanked them for agreeing to take the time to write a letter for me and to contact me with any questions.
