Anyone have any idea on how long the personal statement should be? I've seen some schools state that it should be around 500 words, but SOPHAS allows you to write an essay up to 1500 words.

As an aside, which public schools are generally more accepting of students coming right from undergrad? I was specifically wondering about Yale and Boston U.

Thanks for any input.

My personal statement was 869 words (just over a page and a half with Times in size 12 font, single-spaced). I personally think it's better to keep it shorter and to the point, if possible. If I was on an admissions committee, I'd be thankful for the shorter ones. No idea what they really think of it, though.

Not sure about your second question.
