just a heads up or warning for those interested in attending a medical school in the Philippines. Based on experience, there is a big cultural adjustment one has to be aware of. Locals tend to be clanish and really immature. Contrary to beliefs you will find that local students are not welcoming to "foreigners". This is especially true during clinicals. During clinicals, students are grouped into subgroups where they are encouraged to help one another. Be aware that some will not be helpful and will rather see you fail in your tasks. Once you see this happening do not rely on the group unfortunately. This happened in UERM. Unfortunately, the school does not do anything to correct the situation.

Also, do not be misled! UERM has no monopoly on clinical rotations to the US. The school itself has nothing to do with arranging US rotations. Arranging the rotation falls on the student. Whether you are a Fil-Am or local, you can arrange clinicals in the US if you so desire and can afford it. UERM is a very good medical school but don't let this incorrect impression sway you to attend there only bc you think they are the only one that allow US clinicals. Also, you are better of contacting the hospitals yourself rather than using an agency that supposedly coordinates with hospitals. Some agencies like the one UERM students use is not worth the money you are paying them.
