Physician shortage

Hey all I’m a European US-img so I’m a little uninformed on this subject. I overheard some attendings at my med school talking about a shortage of physicians in this US and it’s only getting worse, is this true? If this is true would this help increase img match rate. I talked to another attending at my uni and she said that there was just a bad distribution of primary care docs. I’m not trying to be ignorant I tried to search for answers elsewhere as well but couldn’t find a straight answer.

She is correct that there is a physician distribution issue and not a shortage.

Better put, there is a shortage of hospitals that want to pay physicians enough money to work in rural America.
