Hey guys,
I was just wondering if some of you that have got accepted this year could post your OAT scores, GPAs, shadowing experience, interviews, where you got accepted, etc. It would just be helpful to know about where I (and others) need to be to be competitive at the different schools (esp with the OAT score change). Thank you so much! Good luck in all you do!

is it that no one else has been accepted with lower stats or people just aren't posting them? I think it's odd that the people who posted have almost perfect gpa's or OAT's and no one with lower stats have yet. Coincidence or is it that admissions hasn't gotten around to accepting people with lower #'s yet?

eyeballin-

wow, impressive improvement! just wondering though, what kind of classes did u take for post bacc?

Thank you Eyed :)

I just enrolled at my local community college after graduating. I retook pre-req courses with a low grade...ie Ochem, Gchem, Physics. I also took Anatomy, Physio, and Micro there as well...and made sure to get straight A's.

I also met some great OD mentors while I was shadowing...they really encouraged and supported me throughout the process. I don't think I could have gone this far without their help. I remember my undergrad counselor telling me that I have no chance at a doctorate program. :p

I'm welcome to any questions because I know I'm not the only one stressed about a low GPA (under 3.0) ~

Congrats everyone! This is also a bump post :]

Thanks everyone for you postings! Keep them coming...

Got an interview from SUNY and ICO.
NECO and SCCO wanted me to retake.

Accepted into ICO and I'll be going there!!

It seems as if there is a wide spectrum of scores, GPA, hours, and experience! It goes to show that anything is possible, just be open-minded and persistent!

GPA after fall semester: 3.30

my gpa kind of sucks bc the first semester of my freshman year i totally screwed around, but i think they saw that i had improved drastically (4.0 while taking biochem and histology) so thank god they ignored my first semester.

My GPA sucks because I had senioritis while taking Human Anatomy and Immunology. I retook them and got Bs. i also have a lot of extracirricular and leadership skills. rock climbing, captain of a cycling team, captain of a table tennis team, feeding the homeless, tutoring for the underprivileged, much more...

so if your gpa sucks, at least be good in making use of your other personal qualities. don't forget to shadow/work for different optometrists. if you can try commercial (costco, lens crafters, wal-mart), private practice (a couple different specialties) if you can. it'll help you.

applied to: 12 schools...(too lazy to list them all)
finished application/secondaries: western, neco, scco, umsl, salus, sco
granted interviews: western, neco, scco, umsl, salus, sco, salus,
interviewed @: western, neco, scco, umsl
accepted: western, scco, umsl, neco (up for review)
going to: scco!
