Do you think pathology residency programs value preclinical grades more than other specialties?

Doubtful. Why would they? Path is not uber-competitive. My guess would be only the uber-competitive fields would bother going far back into your transcripts to review pre-clinical grades. As my med school path instructor told me, "You're American and you speak English, you'll get just about whatever path residency you want."
