When you have an increase in venous return I understand that it will increase the preload, but how come the afterload stays the same? If we dump more fluid into the ventricles wouldnt they contract harder due to starling's law and thereby increase the afterload? Also, since the cardiac output will increase wouldn't the increase in the MAP also cause the afterload to increase?
