Hi everyone,

Does anyone here have any experience or advice concerning mentors calling programs on your behalf to help you secure an interview? Interview season has gone pretty well for me so far (interviews at many of the "top" programs), but there was one highly regarded program that I was hoping to get an interview at but the invite did not come. One of my mentors (who actually didn't write me a letter as we had only recently started working together) has a lot of experience with this institution and I was thinking of asking him to make a call on my behalf to see if I could score an interview. Does anyone have any thoughts as to if this would be inappropriate? Have you heard of this being effective in the past? Think I would actually have a shot at matching at a place were I had to call in a favor to get an interview?

Thanks in advance!
