- Couples Match Distance Calculator – This tool is used to find programs from different specialties that are in the same city or nearby each other. There are lots of programs that are within driving distance of each other but are technically in different cities (making them hard to identify). This tool helps you to find those pairs of programs where you and your significant other can be near each other. All you have to do is select two specialties then specify the maximum distance that you want between programs (as the crow flies). The tool then calculates and displays all of the pairs of programs within that distance. This tool is really designed to help you pare down the number of programs that you have to apply to.
- Rank List Generator – This tool is really fun. I wanted something that would help to build your rank list while avoiding decision paralysis. You enter each program that you interviewed at and then the program makes you pick between pairs of options. As you choose between programs the algorithm in the background is building your rank list. The great aspect to this algorithm is that it minimizes the number of pairings needed to build the list. When starting the sorting process make sure to put one program per line (whitespace doesn’t matter).
