The STS was developed in the 70s and launched in the early 80s. It really was, and still is, an amazing technological feat. Its predecessor basically sent humans into space strapped onto a missile with tens of thousands of kN worth of controlled explosives. Crazy stuff.

Has it really been that long?
Feels like yesterday. I remember it was summer. I was watching the price is right, with Bob Barker. My dad called from work and told us to change the channel to a news channel.
