any one knows the ~ salary of oncologist in VA hospital for fresh graduate? Life style in VA hospital is really attractive. But heard the salary is <200k on average.

Salary is lower than academics. Lifestyle depends on where you are. A friend of mine started a year ago at the VA in our town. He works twice as much as I do and makes about 40% less. YMMV of course.

Every VA employee's salary, from the director to the doctors to the janitors, is public record. Feel free to go to http://www.fedsdatacenter.com/federal-pay-rates/index.php and look up the names of some oncologists who work at VAs. If you don't know any, try google. The only variable you won't be able to get is how many hours they actually work. Lot of VA subspecialists are part time VA and part time private practice or at a different center.
