what does this do? i know it goes on top of collagen but whats it good for..tried looking everywhere...much thanks in advance..last day of mcat prep

i think the sarcolemma surrounds several myofibrils to form a muscle fiber..

im not sure what its other functions are though.
 
tHE sarcolemma I don't think does anything but it houses sarcoplasm that contain Ca2+ ions that help in muscle contraction.
 
Just think of it as the analog to the plasma membrane as the SR is to the ER and the sarcoplasm is to the cytoplasm
