Hello, I am currently a sophomore and I plan to apply to SCCO in a few years. Is there a recommendation on what stats I should get to secure me a spot in their class? Can you please post your stats if you got accepted or adding SCCO? Also how much shadowing experience would you recommend? Thanks!!

Did not apply to SCCO, but here's the average GPA's of the entering classes for SCCO the last three years..

2009: 3.44
2010: 3.40
2011: 3.38

And here's the average OAT's (AA/TS)..

2009: 341/346 (old scoring system)
2010: 332/339
2011: 329/332

So, while there are many other factors to be considered, keeping your stats at or above these averages should make you a competitive applicant.

Honestly, don't worry about hitting a certain bar.. Get the best grades you can and you'll guarantee your acceptance if you do well.

If you want a bar, 3.5 and 330 will get you into most optometry schools. If not, you'll at least get an interview and your personality can (hopefully) carry you the rest of the way.
