Hello SDN! I am working on my application and was looking for advice on which schools (MD and DO) to apply to. I have yet to compile a full list of schools.

MCAT/GPA:

Wisconsin Resident, White Male
Most recent MCAT: 11/7!/10 (28) -I am kicking myself for completely neglecting verbal
Previous MCAT: 10/8/8 (26)
GPA: 3.54, strong upward trend (~3.75 average last 7 semesters)
Biochemistry/Molecular Biology Major

ECs:
  • 4 Years of DIII Cross Country and Track and Field
-All-American, Academic All-American
-Volunteer Assistant Coach for 1 year (both XC and Track, ~450 hours)
  • Certified Nursing Assistant
  • Volunteer - Critical Care Waiting Room - Mayo Clinic (300 hours)
  • Shadowing - General Surgeon MD (20 hours)
  • Worked at Best Buy for one year
  • Clinical Lab Technologist - Mayo Clinic, Rochester
-Starting in July I will be working in the Human Cell Therapy lab at Mayo Clinic. I will be involved in blood and bone marrow transplants, cancer research, and more for one of the top labs in the U.S. This will be my full time job for at least the next year.
  • Took part in class research - presented at several conferences
  • Eagle Scout

I understand that most MD schools are a long shot for me, especially with my 7 in verbal, but I would still like to give some of the low tier schools a shot (Franklin, MCW-Green Bay campus). Any advice on MD or DO schools that I should apply to would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for reading my post and for any input!

For MD you could apply to your state schools and
Quinnipiac
Albany
NYMC
Drexel
Temple
Oakland Beaumont
Western Michigan
Creighton
Rosalind Franklin
St. Louis
The GPA-MCAT grid shows that you have a 1/3 chance for a MD acceptance.
You should be fine for DO but apply to at least 10.

Thanks for the list! I have added a few MD schools, but I am trying to get down to 12 now. Any advice on trimming this list? Thanks!

MCW
Madison - long shot but in state
Creighton
Rosy Franklin
Commonwealth
Minnesota
Albany
Drexel
George Washington
NYMC
Oakland
Penn State
Quinnipiac
Temple
Western Michigan
Rush
