I have seen a PCP numerous times, and have been given a number of homeopathic remedies and medication, but nothing has worked.

I have been been advised to try: salt water gargles, neti pot with saltwater, a humidifier, drinking a lot of water, staying away from dairy.

I have been given anti-histamines, general antibiotics, flonase, and nothing has made the problem any better.

I have had the problem for over a year now, I find myself constantly clearing my throat (usually 50-75 times a day), because of that constant choking feeling. I assume this is probably from the mucus being on my tonsils and uvula. . Most of the time very little mucus actually comes up, but when it does it is pretty viscous. This is my only problem, I suffer from minor allergies, but nothing very noticeable.

Anyway, my basic insurance (school) hardly covers anything for a specialist, so most of the cost will be coming out of my pocket, that is why I am trying to figure out whether it would even be worthwhile to get referred.

or you can go see an ENT from your school. He might see you for free. Some docs at my school do that.

I think you should see an ENT. Asking for medical advice is against the terms of the board, but I wouldn't be surprised if you have laryngopharyngeal reflux. Unless you actually feel a tremendous amount of PND, that's probably not going to be the likely cause of the throat clearing.
