Can you all summarize the main differences between Stahl's prescribers guide vs neuroscientific basis and practical applications books? Is one just an abbreviated version of the other like Kaplan & Sadock has? As an intern, which is more useful? Are both necessary? Thanks

Side question
Anyone familiar with Clinical Neurology for Psychiatrists by Kaufman? Worth the money?

Thanks yall.

I found Kaufman extremely helpful in studying for the boards. Didn't really use it much during residency, though.

A quick search for "Stahl" brings up a plethora of threads about Stahl's book, related books, and recommended books for interns. You'll probably find some good information in pre-existing threads.

Even if you just read Kaufmann just a few times a year for reference it's worth it because aside that it's a darned good neurology book, it's neurology specifically geared towards psychiatrists. All of us will sooner or later, at least a few times a year, encounter patients with a comorbid neurological disorder or a disorder where we can't tell if it's psychiatric vs. neurological. This book helps.
