Got my step 3 score back and got a 228 (for reference, step 1 was 245 and step 2 was 257). Definitely not the greatest. Was wondering what the impact of the step 3 score is for fellowship applications? Currently considering the following sub-specialties: Cardiology, Pulm/Crit, Nephro, or ID. From a T20 IM program in the Southeast and hoping to match to California (lots of ties). Thanks!

Ive been told it doesnt matter how bad you do as long as you pass.

It's not a top score, but a solid score. Definitely don't worry about it. More important now are your attendings aware that your clinical skills are strong, and your scholarly activity in your field of interest which hopefully you can narrow soon.

Don’t worry about it.
Doesn’t really factor into rank list at most programs.
Obviously if you fail that is a concern
