Can you take step 3 during the Summer between graduating and beginning your PGY1 ( preliminary medicine) internship year? If so, is it advisable to do so? My last rotation in school will be Emergency Medicine, and I heard that recent EM knowledge is a good basis for doing well on step 3, in addition to studying USMLE World question bank. Or should I wait until the end of my PGY1 year to take the test? Comments appreciated.
