I'm planning on applying to a specialty that requires a TY or prelim year. I'm planning on applying broadly to major academic center with a strong IM program for prelim, but hope to find a program that doesn't kill me with scut and a crazy call schedule (~60 hrs/wk sounds good). My reason is that I hope to get strong training during this year. I also can't shake medicine off completely, and would apply for PGY-2 position and ditch the specialty if I really medicine. I'm not looking for the cushiest program, else I'd go for the TY. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
