Hi there

I am an IMG in Eastern Europe after completing MS1. We now have to do a summer placement which entails 160hrs of what are called nurse duties in a hospital affiliated with the Uni.

Due to the language barriers , I am not getting a lot of patient talking time. I find myself mainky doing BP, pulse ox, taking blood from lines already in place for ABG, I've done some SC injection, a male catheterization and some cannula insertions.

I am not geting much round experience, patient hx experience etc.

I will be sitting step 1next summer and hope to eventually apply as an IMG for an emergency residency.

Do any US students have any advice or recommendations as to what I should I be achieving out of such a placement. I want to be a strong candidate when alongside my US counterparts in placements in the future.

Are you by any chance at PUMS? That sounds like their first year requirement for MS1's, even down to the hours outlined
