Hi, I am new to posting threads on student doctor network so I am not so sure how this works.
I am a pre-med student who needs some advice on what to do with applying to med school.
I am a senior in undergrad and am planning to graduate a semester early. I have recently taken the MCAT, however my scores are not looking competitive enough to be considered.
My GPA is great, and I have plenty of research/volunteer/shadowing experience, so the only thing really holding me down is the MCAT.
I was wondering if using my "spring semester" to just work and study for the MCAT and applying that upcoming Fall would be a good idea.
I have taken the MCAT twice as of now so I want to make sure I have adequate time and practice for my third MCAT.
Thanks to anyone who responds to this.

Yes, take a year off. Start now, use the AAMC complete content PDF for MCAT as a guide. It will probably take you about 3-4 months to go through it along with practicing. Last MCAT test for this year is September, which is too soon, and it opens again January I believe. If you decide to take it in Jan., you got about 4 and half months until then, so that should be ideal.

Thank you! I am considering taking a prep course if that will help me any. I did not take any courses for my other MCATs.

I just graduated and deferred my acceptance to medical school to take a year off and I am SO happy. There is no rush and you don't want to burn yourself out before you even start med school
