Talking about other career options explored in personal statement?

In my personal statement, I talk about some shadowing I did in other fields and how the information I gained through these experiences led me to to understand why optometry is the best fit for me. I am wondering if it's a bad idea to mention exploring other fields at all, even though these experiences were what led me to understanding optometry is the right career for me. Thoughts?

It's not a bad idea as long as you give your reasons on why optometry and not medical doctor or pharmacist. I put dentistry as one of my career options in my personal statement and explained how it wasn't for me and such and how I came to like optometry more than the other. Worked out!
