technician IV Math and Orientation

We are having trouble getting techs to do math. Is there a simple online or book form that spells out IV math. The most complex math is dilutions from a stock solution, though we have NICU stuff too.

Also, what do your facilities do for tech orientation? How long does it go for each task (we are totally cross trained here) and how does a buddy system work with requisite sign-offs, etc. ?Thank you.

I think 2/3 of my pharmacy calculations class failed--the COP used it as a weeder for their program. I don't know how you can expect technicians to do math.

My school started a calculations class after so many of my classmates were failing compounding due to math errors. Calculations was one that a lot of P1s struggled with.

What’s an example of a math problem your IV tech needs to do? Ideally the system should use templates to prevent needing a tech to do any math.
