For those of you out there who are weeding through every post on this forum looking for two words: Ohio State.

Stop here in between visits to your student center where (if you're anything like me) you check your application status daily despite knowing there is no chance it will change until January. Let's get acquainted, and provide a distraction to one another as we inch into and (eventually, sigh) through January.

University: Ohio University

Major: Child and Family Studies with a concentration in Psychology

Overall GPA: 3.82

Pre-Req GPA: 3.81 (All prereqs complete)

GRE:
Verbal 155
Quant. 154
AW 4.5

Observation: I've spent 40 hours in home-based pediatrics, 12 hours in outpatient adult rehabilitation, and 4 hours in inpatient pediatric/acute care.

Work: I was a youth leader at a state school for the blind, AKA: "house mom" to a dorm of blind girls (410 hours). I was also a youth leader to "troubled youth" with a separate agency (1,083 hours). I spent 431 hours working in a research lab studying ADHD interventions for children and adolescents. I interned with a state program (400 hours) established as a resource to child care providers in child health, safety and nutrition.

Extra-Curric: I am a certified Healthcare Provider through the American Red Cross and am able to provide CPR and AED to children and adults. I observed an early intervention specialist for 76 hours in the homes of clients who were children between zero and three years of age. I spent 20 hours helping an elderly woman in her home over the course of a quarter, and 30 hours in a preschool classroom observing and participating in daily activities. I was the Fellowship Chair of National Honor Fraternity Phi Sigma Pi for one year, and was involved with the fraternity for two years.

Volunteer: Recently, I have become a very active mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters with around 30 hours invested so far. It is my second time mentoring for the agency. I also tutored a high school student with a learning disability and cerebral palsy.

Applied: The Ohio State University
