For the interns this year, what are your thoughts on taking Step 3 in September or earlier to take the old version, or waiting for the new one to roll out in November?

My pros to taking old: UWorld and all the current trendy books are based on the current test (we can't feasibly estimate how long it'll take for them to integrate the new information tested)
USMLE only gives vague topics for what the new content will include, and this is not any way to feel confident on the material. See here--> http://www.usmle.org/announcements/default.aspx?ContentId=121 and here---> http://www.usmle.org/pdfs/Changes_to_USMLE_2014-2015_handout_FINAL.pdf
and cons: obviously not a lot of time to prepare before the last testing days in september

Pros to new: maybe being a guinea pig means that we'll get a hell of a lot of slack and thats why the results won't be available until April when they've curved the crap out of it. Maybe not.
We can wait until later in intern year to take it.
cons: see all of above.

Any advice that your departments have given you on this? or any thoughts of your own?

I'm planning to take it earlier mostly due to: 1) I have an easy/vacation block in August/September 2) Score doesn't matter just have to pass. If my block was later on in the year I'd just do it then, really just comes down to timing out a good time to study.

I've been debating this decision as well. I usually like to get tests done as early as possible but I would have to study during a month on the floors in August. I'll still probably end up doing it early.

I'm also wondering if the UW qbank updated their Q's to reflect the new changes
