Sorry for the title bros.
I was wondering in your senior year, can you apply to GPR & endo, GPR&ortho(match), or all three together?

You can apply to as many specialy/GPR/AEGD programs that you want to. You can apply to a combination of match and non-match programs as well. So yeah, twosomes, threesomes, and moresomes are acceptable.

I thought leagal binding prohibits you from applying to both match and non-match.
Is it reasonable for someone to apply to both endo and ortho?

you can apply to both match and non-match. it was stated before that the non-match programs should let you know their decision before Match, and therefore if you get into a non-match, you can then withdraw your Match application.

and, it is unreasonable to apply to both endo and ortho. both programs will reject you for showing lack of commitment and being a flake.

how will the programs know whether this dude applied to both endo and ortho? (this is assuming he is not that foolish to apply to both programs at the same school!)

beats the heck out of me, i'm not that familiar with the process.

but man, i can't imagine kissing @ss to get a total of 6 recommendation letters needed for all this!

How about the fact that he'll have to get a Dean's letter and the Dean will know...How is the Dean supposed to write a strong letter of support for you to both Endo and Ortho? Is he/she supposed to put "Mr. X is a truly wonderful applicant for your specialty program and has the potential to be a great dental specialist..." Doesn't seem to have the same ring as "Mr. X is a truly wonderful applicant for your orthodontics program and has the potential to be a terrific orthodontist." Specifics always count in recommendation letters...I suppose that you could ask your Dean to write two letters, one for ortho, one for endo, but then you'd just look like some sort of indecisive wank.

How about the fact that most dental schools are pretty small, and if you get a recommendation from 3 ortho faculty and 3 endo faculty, it's very likely that they'll know each other and at some point talk about the students who are applying for specialties.

My opinion is that if a fourth-year dental student can't decide between endo and ortho (which are drastically different, except for lifestyle), they probably don't deserve to get into either program. There are applicants for both of these programs that will be much more dedicated.

Applying to two specialties can hurt your chances, but it's not like people haven't done it before... I know somebody who applied to two specialties and ended up with her 2nd ranked program... If I were you though, I'd really consider spending some time thinking about what you want to do for the rest of your life. Don't let a computer decide your future... You may regret it.
