Hi fellow Neuro folks,

I'm a current fellow at UF Health Jacksonville and we have an opening for our fellowship class of 2017. I just wanted to post some information on our fellowship here, incase anyone might be interested. Aside from the carefully crafted blurb below, I will tell you that I absolutely love it here. The atmosphere is fantastic for learning and I really feel like I'm getting an excellent experience.

The Vascular Neurology Fellowship at University of Florida Health Jacksonville is a fully accredited Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) fellowship with a diverse, competency-based curriculum that combines broad clinical experiences with exposure to a diverse all facets of this neurologic subspecialty. The fellow interacts with other in-hospital medical specialists including: Interventional Neuroradiology, Endovascular Neurosurgery, and Neurocritical Care at both clinical and educational levels. Opportunities for fellows to conduct independent clinical research and participate in clinical trials (including NIH funded trials) are abundant as well.

The fellows’ inpatient rotations and outpatient stroke clinic are conducted on campus at U.F. Health Jacksonville, a Joint Commission-certified Stroke Center and the region’s only level 1 trauma center. At U.F. Health Jacksonville the Vascular Neurology Fellows provide care to a demographically diverse population of patients. Patients with symptoms of acute stroke are flown to U.F. Health Jacksonville via its well established field-to stroke-center helicopter ambulance program from multiple counties located within the Northeast Florida/Southeast Georgia region. Fellows gain competency in field-to-stroke center telemedicine evaluation during their training. Fellows have ample opportunity to teach residents in the hospital’s ACGME accredited General Neurology program and to teach University of Florida College of Medicine medical students.

Best wishes,
C
