vascular surgery info

Hey i am interested in pursuing a Vascular surgery residency (now that most of them are combined 5-6 yr programs) and wanted to get some insight from current residents in the field.I am only a to-be third year student (taking boards in june and starting rotations in august)
Hows tough is it to match, lifestyle, a little bit about the residency etc?

as yet, most programs are not combined 5-6 yrs. Training after general surgery is still an option.

integrated vascular is very competitive, and you're already behind if you don't have established interest, research, connections, etc.

The lifestyle is in general not good -- like anything else in surgery.
