General info:
  • CA resident, female, ORM (East Asian)
  • GPA 3.77 (upward trend). My school runs on the quarter system, and I am planning to apply without my spring quarter grades as they don't come out until late June
  • MCAT 517: 129, 132, 128, 128
  • Undergrad is a non-prestigious CA state school
ECs:
  • ~300 hours hospital volunteering over 3 years
  • ~320 hours research over last year (continuing)
  • ~70 hours food bank volunteering over past year (continuing)
  • ~40 hours animal shelter volunteering
  • ~30 hours shadowing over 2 years
  • Employed as part-time law firm file clerk since 2015
I plan to work as a scribe during my gap year and I’m doing a research internship this summer. I am planning to apply to schools this summer, but I realized that I don't have a good perspective on what my chances are, and as a result, I think that my current school list is all over the place. Please give me advice on this list and on what you think my general chances are!

Accumulate another 20 hours of physician shadowing and another 100 hours at the food bank before you submit your application.
Remove Rush since they expect many more clinical and non clinical hours than you have. U Washington admits less than 1% of applicants who are not from states in the Northwest. I suggest these schools with your stats:
Vermont
Quinnipiac
Tufts
Hofstra
Einstein
Mount Sinai
Rochester
New York Medical College
Albany
Jefferson
Drexel
Temple
George Washington
Cincinnati
Duke
Wake Forest
Rosalind Franklin
U Illinois
Iowa
Medical College Wisconsin
Western Michigan
Oakland Beaumont
California University
Loma Linda (if you fit their mission)
Kaiser
UC Davis
UC Irvine
UCLA
UCSD
UCSF
USC Keck
