Hi everyone! I am applying next cycle (2021-2022) and am trying to make a school list. I would love to get some advice on where I could try to strengthen my application (I know I lack in research) and where to apply to better my chances of getting in.

cGPA and sGPA: 3.74 cGPA, 3.62sGPA with an upward trend (Public Health)
MCAT score(s) and breakdown: 512 (125/128/128/131)
Undergraduate institution or category: UCSD
State of residence: CA
Ethnicity and/or race: Asian

Clinical experience (volunteer and non-volunteer):
  • 90 hours as a volunteer in the ICU
  • 45 hours as Physical Therapy Volunteer
  • 300 hours as an Optometrist Assistant
  • will be working full time as an MA (approx. 1000 hours by June)
Research experience and productivity: not much - Capstone senior research project and poster presentation on physical activity in college students

Shadowing experience and specialties represented: Shadowing opportunities I had lined up this summer were canceled due to COVID. I am hoping to get a few more primary care hours when things open up.
  • 8 hours in Pediatrics
  • ~10 hours through online shadowing programs
Non-clinical volunteering: ~110 hours -- peer tutoring at school, tutoring middle and high school students in underserved school districts, facilitator for current events seminar for high school students (focus on students in nderserved districts), writing letters to seniors and making decorations for a nursing home, coaching gymnastics to children with autism. Will have some more by June.

Other extracurricular activities:
  • founding member of school gymnastics team (held multiple leadership positions during my 4 years)
  • work as a Head Gymnastics Coach for 4 years at school and currently (coached people ages 18mo-50 years old)

Thank you for the list! Is there any part of my app that I should prioritize/focus on improving in the next 6-8 months?
