Hi guys,

Anyone have a rockin' mnemonic for the menstrual cycle that incorporates the hormones secreted and duration of each stage?

I know about FOL(d) M(a)PS but it seems too ambiguous as it doesnt tell me anything about the hormones or durations.

Thanks for your help!

i've had to take a lot of physiology and functional anatomy courses through out my undergrad and I have never been able to come up with anything haha

the only thing that works is FOLM, and memorize the general appearance of the 2 graps relating estrogen/progesterone and LH/FSH

Sorry...this might sound silly...but can you explain how Fold Maps works?? What it stands for?

ive been trying to find one myself, how does FOLD MAPS work? i can understand the FOLd M, i think, but whats the PS?

F: Follicular stage
O: Ovulation
L: Luteneizing stage
M: Menstration

Not sure about the PS either.

Hey, the mnemonic is:

"FOL(d) M(a)PS"
Ovarian cycle: Follicular phase, Ovulatory phase, Luteal phase
Menstrual cycle: Menstrual flow, Proliferative phase, Secretory phase

Most important thing to remember = LUteinizing hormone induces ovULation (ovum busts out of follicle)

FSH
· In Males:
.o .Stimulates spermatogenesis => sperm look like “FiSH”
· In Females:
.o .Stimulates ovarian follicles => which secretes estrogen
LH
· In Males:
.o .Stimulates androgen secretion => males become “Like Hairy Apes”
.o .Androgens also stimulates spermatogenesis
· In Females:
.o .Stimulates corpus luteum => females have “Little Hips and Cute Legs”
.o .Corpus luteum secretes estrogen and progesterone

I guess this is kind of on topic, not sure how many people are aware of SEVEN UP

S - Seminferous Tubules
E - Epididimys
V - Vas Deferens
E - Ejaculatory Duct
N - Nothing

U - Urethra
P - Penis

For the movement of sperm through the male system :)
